Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit ecumenical Christian housing ministry which works in partnership with people in need to improve the conditions in which they live. Habitat challenges people of compassion to provide the finances as well as labor to build or renovate simple, decent homes with those in need of shelter.
Partner families work sweat equity hours on their home or the home of other families. The homes are then sold at no profit with no interest mortgages repaid over a 20 year period. The house payments are recycled to build more houses for families in need .All Habitat affiliates are governed by a board of directors that sets up a family selection process. The board assures that the houses are affordable and are sold at no profit with no interest. In seeking to build up the tangible and spiritual aspects of a community, Habitat proclaims the love of Christ in word and deed and aims always to glorify God.
